Severius Sport Elegance — Signum Series

The world's first watch dial in Syriac numerals, on a case five millimetres tall.

That thinness is why the Severius runs a Swiss Ronda quartz movement rather than an automatic. An automatic of comparable quality would have roughly doubled the case height, and the watch would sit on the wrist as a different object. We wanted a dial you read, not a rotor you show people.

The numerals were redrawn from scratch for the format. Syriac letterforms were made for parchment, not for a curved surface read at arm's length, so stroke weights were thickened, counters opened, and every numeral optically balanced against its neighbours.
